I was in the office one day and normally, before I start my task, I check my personal emails and my social networking accounts such as "Friendster", "Multiply", and even "Myspace". Yes, I'm not an ideal good employee. What? Our company has internet connection. Of course just like an ordinary human being, I take advantage of it. But just to make things fair, even though I surf, I make sure I finish my task by the end of the day. Anyway, going back to checking my emails and other accounts, I was so disappointed because all the websites that I want to open are all blocked! Call it Karma, I don't care. I want to check all my accounts! Good thing a friend of mine told me that you can look for proxy servers in order for me to unblock and access the websites that are being blocked in our office. For those of you who is not familiar with proxy server, it is according to "Wikipedia", a computer system or an application program that acts as a go-between for requests from clients seeking resources from other servers. This is how it works; you open a proxy server website like unblock-sites.blogspot.com and type the URL of the website that you like to visit. What the proxy server would do is access the website you requested in order for you to open them. So in your browser, the URL will not be, for example, http://www.friendster.com, but instead the URL of the proxy server which is unblock-sites.blogspot.com (which is not blocked here in our office since it was only a blogger). However, if there is an advantage for everything, there is also a disadvantage. Proxy server is not an exception of this. One thing that you need to worry about is the security of your accounts. Like I said, the username and passwords you are sending is not going straight to the server of the website you are visiting, but to the proxy server first. So before you type any important information, be sure the proxy server you are using has a good reputation. Another thing that you will not like about proxy servers is the limitation of it in a certain website. Like in "Friendster", since some of the features in this website use Javascript, some proxy servers are not capable of having the same application or program. One feature that I'm referrring to is comment. You actually can't write a comment in "Friendster" if you are using a proxy server. So there you have it. You now have a way of accessing websites without worrying if it would be block in your company. I know, I'm a bad influence to all of you guys, but I'm just keeping it real. Besides, as long as I'm doing my job, finishing my task, and most of all, not being late, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't have fun. I mean come on, we all need a break once in a while after a long hours of work right? Be sure to find out some proxy sites that is in the blogspot platform to make sure it will work well in your network because some of the administrators are aware of the proxy sites that is why they are using proxy avoidance to avoid such proxies.
